Infield English: topographic name from Middle English infeld ‘land near the homestead or village’, or a habitational name from any of various minor places named with this term, for example In Field in Humberside or Infield House in Lancashire.

For all such queries about origins etc.....use google

To find connections.....research the lines, and see if they link up

Hello Elizabeth and welcome to the Community boards.

It may be helpful for you to put the names you are researching into the Search Trees box which you will find if you click on the Search button at the top right of the page.

If you find any connections, you can contact the tree owners for further information.

I had a quick look and there are several members with the Infield in their trees from both Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Cx
