Sorry, I deleted it because I was thinking the date was wrong - if George was born in 1818 and Sarah married in 1815 there would be quite an age gap???

Here it is again.

groom's name: William Sutton
bride's name: Sarah Wiggin
marriage date: 29 Dec 1815
marriage place: Saint Gregory By Saint Paul,London,London,England
indexing project (batch) number: M05426-2
system origin: England-ODM
source film number: 566150

I am confused - is George's father James (from the MC) or John married to Harriet??

Yeah I found that one....I think St Pauls is often associated with Kent...so I thought this was OK. Can't check on dates because of the infuriating "of full age"!!!!

And there are loads of deaths for William Sutton in Kent area in late 1820's.

So pretty good for the memory bank...would be nice to connect this with father John which I haven't managed to do at the mo! :-D

I haven't searched death for Sarah in Australia - will do so and see what I can come up with...

UPDATED - please go to last post

My gg-grandfather was William Hyde born Malvern Wells in 1826.

I have found a christening record for him (on another site)
name:William Hyde
gender:Male
baptism/christening date:19 Nov 1826
baptism/christening place:Little Malvern, Worcester, England
father's name:John Hyde
mother's name:Harriett
indexing project (batch) number:I04378-5
system origin:England-EASy

The only marriage I can find that fits is in Ganarew Herefordshire in 1813.

I have various siblings with same parents - and with recurring names (Gale for instance) that preserve the link...Jane, MAry Ann, Robert, Elizabeth and John and GEORGE.

Until today I had George born Hanley Castle (christening record on another site) in April 1818.

Can't find him in 1841 census but found what I thought was him in 1851 with wife Elizabeth (born Headcorn Kent). Freebmd Marriage record that supported this...to Elizabeth Parson in Maidstone Q3 1839.

Then they disappear.

Until I find Australia death index for Geo Hyde in 1881 - states his mother as Harriet Jane Gale and father Jas Hyde. John/Jas??

Several "other site trees" have him married to Sarah Cooke with no proof.

So I sent for the 1839 marriage certificate...came back with George "widower" and wife Sarah Sutton "widow". Fathers names are James Hyde and John Wiggins.

So my starting point is that George born Hanley Castle, son of John and Harriett IS my man.

And George died Australia 1881 IS my man.

And George marrying Sarah Sutton IS my man (and she is the Sarah that emigrated with him)

So....

who was George's first wife?

George and Sarah married in September 1839 in Maidstone (infuriatingly both of full age) in the presence of John and Louisa Wallace

When did they emigrate?

As an aside....can anyone find a marriage between Sarah Wiggins and a Sutton?

And can anyone find them in 1841...or had they emigrated by then?

From a contrite and politically correct Jude :-D
