Find Ancestors

Hi just wondering if anyone can tell me where I go from here I'm stuck can't even find my great grandfathers death in Barnsley since he used John or James when it suited him.
Just looking for a starting point to get birth certificate for either John/James Harrison or Catherine/Kate
Haven't found out much since I started this tread and am no closer in Wigan or Barnsley any help would be great thanks nici

yeah they took the kids to Barnsley with them apart from the ones that had died also had 5 more children in Barnsley a Jessie died and my grandad was the last one in1916 :-)

Hi they were not dead my grandad born 1916 called William Harrison also his elder brother Albert Harrison in 1912

On the 1911 census he definitely signs his name as James and Catherine is first written down as widow and then crossed out and put married. She is also down as daughter then crossed out and put as wife.

I think they were all a bit confused!!

The witnesses are Thomas Duckworth and Esther Duckworth and when I looked at the 1901 census they were living with them also there were some more harrisons living next door to them

Kate is a normal diminutive for Catherine....think of Prince William's wife!

Who witnessed the marriage?

I'm confused too on there wedding certificate it says john but on census says james and she uses kate on 1901 and she uses catherine in 1911 :-S nic

As I say I'm sorry again I thought they were seperate ones :-(

So is Catherine's husband called John or James? I am confused as you say in your original post his name is John but in the 1911 census it seems to be James.

I've seen the census on here but don't know how to show it they are in Barnsley called James and Catherine harrison then Sorry not much help so new to this.

What was the occupation given for Catherine's father on the marriage certificate?
