Knowing how many children they produced doesn't help with finding their ancestors, I'm afraid

You have probably been taken back as far as it is possible to go. You are very lucky to have got back as far as you have

John

John Report 10 Feb 2019 19:28

they has 11 children

I fear you'll be out of luck.

There don't seem to be any birth/baptism records for Kingston St Mary as early as Robert or Elizabeth's births would have been.

Are you looking for ancestors or descendants of Robert and Elizabeth?

They had several children, but I assume you already know about them?

Assuming you mean in England/Wales, marriage certs (from 1837 onwards) from here:

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Earlier than 1837, you won't find a marriage cert as such, but maybe a parish record.

Hello Dea,

Very long time no see, but I am returned.

OK then,

My G,G,G,G,G,G,Grandparents are Robert Bickham [c1677], and Elizabeth Cooke [c1681], most likely from the Taunton, Somerset area.

Any ideas please.

Also where is the best place to obtain marriage certificates etc. from.?

Cheers,

Unfortunately John, there are two 1861 census records for a William Wood, born in Taunton Somerset 1846 and both with a father called John! On one census the father is a Labourer and the other a Carpenter. I think you will have to purchase Williams marriage certificate in the hope that it will reveal Williams fathers occupation.

His marriage details again....

Marriages Sep 1867 (>99%)
DOWN Charlotte Ann Taunton 5c 553
Wood William Taunton 5c 553

Here are the two census records for 1861.... (Note the first one is in the parish of St James!!)

EDIT: On further inspection of the two 1861 census, which are both in the parish of St James (I missed that the first time round!) the first one , with parents John and Susanna... William is an Apprentice of some sort. This William in the 1871 and 1881 census is a Plumber.
On the second one with parents John and Ann, William is a Labourer. In the 1871 census (Married to Charlotte) he is a Masons Labourer.
I know this is not a guessing game and the only way to confirm who the father is would be by purchasing the marriage cert. But my "Guess" is, that John and Ann are the parents of william.
