Find Ancestors

Hi, I am trying to find the parents of a James William Kent born about 1845, Gravesend, Kent
He died 1912 London
Married 1876 Gravesend, Kent
Spouse Ann Harriet Wallis
b 1856 Poplar,Middlesex, Eng
d 1931 Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
His occupation was a Tug coal stoaker, we know that he had a fall on the ship he worked on called Iowa and he later died from the complications of that fall.
We also know that his wife Anne (Annie) came to Australia after James died, as she alreay had some family out here.
I have the children to this couple and also information on Ann's family, but have been unable to find any further info on James.
If there is anyone that could find out who his parents were, it would beso much appreciated. As I am having so many connections coming up, am not sure if they are correct.
I also do not know if he had any siblings either.
So I have hit a brick wall, and help would be appreciated.

The sure way to get ACCURATE info would be to purchase the marriage cert, which would include his father's name and occupation (if known)

Hi all, Thank you, for have all blown me away with what you have found, a huge thanks to you all.
I will be ordering the marriage certificate for my great grandparents, it will be something that ties more in with the family, as I have photos of both of them, plus the ship that James worked on and a photocopy of the article in the newspaper for 1912.
I am doing a heritage scrapbook and the marriage certificate can go with it, as I believe I may have her death certificate as well, as I am aware of where she is buried in Victoria.

Can I please ask another big favour, could someone be able to see if they could find a death certificate for James William Kent , and I could order that, the same time if possible for his death certificate as well.
If I am asking to much, then please let me know, as I do not want to take you all too much for granted.
Wel it's 1pm here in Queensland. Australia where I live on Saturday 1st January 2011, and not we have not been washed away, but alot of houses 3-4 hrs drive from us are under water thru the flooding and another 3 towns have had forced evacuation
due to houses being flooded out. Some may not be able to get back to their houses for a couple of weeks.

The image that you can see on the cityark site is exactly the same as the marriage cert and can be printed off. The site is not transcribed - just actual images of the registers with signatures etc. Do take a look at what Chris has found.

Hi again, Thank you all again, we have excaped the floods, but it is so devastating see some of the cities/towns that are under water, and we are expecting more rain in the coming days, again.
anyway, I will have a look at the cityark site and look to find the marriage certificate and also death certificate.
It amazes me how I can search for something but with you guys, you seem to find it so effortlessly, so you help is much appreciated.

I have been researching the KENT family for many years and have only just discovered the link to James Williams grandfather William KENT.
William had a brother Henry, I am descended from Henry and have researched this side of the family
