I'm helping my partner establish his tree into mine.

He did get in contact with someone from Penryn or Newlyn a couple of years ago when he had his own account.

William's father is Christopher Reginald Sabine who's father was Alfred Sabine.

The person William was in contact at the time provided him with info and since he doesn't have the old account with virgin media anymore he lost it.

If there is anyone who can help us with more info it would be great,

thanks Jo Thomson

I have seen the above notices from Lindsey, so they help .

We do come down to Penzance quite regular as Bill still has a brother there.in Heamoor.

You could try asking here first -
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/stokedamerelopc/marriage_lookup_request.htm
(certainly the surnames Sabine and Govett are included.

Check out this site:

www.devonfhs.org.uk

You can do a surname check ... I've had good results in the past from the society regarding baptisms.

Both surnames you mention are registered .. but may not be your specific family.

Just for clarity, Devon Records Office DOES hold Parish Records, but NOT the specific one asked about, as it is outside of their area.

Worth mentioning that it is always worth checking that parish records are held at the records office of the county that the parish is in before visiting. Many, like this case have been devolved to unitary authorities. Others have more than one site.

Sandra, The records office does (according to their website) hold the parish records for the parish you mention.
However, it is not the Devon Records Office, but the Plymouth and West Devon Records Office (Plymouth is a unitary authority).
They also do a "copy on demand" service, but with a £5 minimum charge, you may not find that viable.
The link to their site is:
http://www.plymouth.gov.uk/homepage/leisureandtourism/
archives/ourservices/familyhistoryindex/churchregistersindex/
churchregisterscofeoutsideplymouth.htm#top
(had to break the link in to sections - just paste "nose-to-tail")
Probably worth a phone call first though.

Why don't you contact the Devon Records Office, and ask if they can help you? Or check their website for details of what records they have?

I'm intrigued that you know the exact date and location of the marriage........without having the cert

Sandra

Sandra Report 9 Nov 2010 09:17

Hi Shirley,
Thanks for that. I am surprised that the Records Office doesn't hold the parish registers as I know that Cornwall records Office does for the Cornish registers.
Thanks again
