Find Ancestors

I have this couple, James born c1814 and Elizabeth born c1820, who I am trying to find more about. I have their children, but nothing else.

James is listed as being born in Sussex, though nothing more specific, while Elizabeth whose maiden name I do not know was born in Surrey and again nothing more than that. Their first born Frank, was born in Sussex in c1847 before they moved to Berkshire where their other children were born.

I would like to try and find any siblings of James & Elizabeth and obviously parents, but this would involve finding Elizabeth's maiden name. All of this is proving rather tricky as they don't seem to appear in every census, well either that or the spelling is off. Has anyone any pointers?

I see that in 1851, no-one knows where in the various counties any of these people were born.apart from the daughter 'Charlot', which seems bizarre.

I have checked out the Smallpiece marriage, but the only Elizabeths I could find in 1841 i.e. before the marriage were born 1824 and 1826, which is quite a few years out from the 1820 I was looking for to match up.
The info posted on the 1851 census, I already have that info, though that Frank Strudwick born in Midhurst looks interesting.

Thanks for your assistance. I have some bits of info to look into, i.e. Cobham as Elizabeths birth place.
However I know ages can differ from census to census but the age thing is making me doubt its the Smallpiece marriage, though I could be wrong

It is a coincidence that the marriage in Thames Ditton is a James Strudwick and Elizabeth Smallpiece...What do you think?

Part of me thinks its correct but part of me doubts it. I think it maybe only resolved via a birth certificate. I don't need to risk getting Franks, I could just get one of the other children where we know where they were born i.e. South Moreton.

Touch wood, the information I need will be on there. I think that is better than ordering Franks and hoping its him.

In 1841 ages of over-15's were rounded down to the nearest 5.......so Elizabeth was any age from 15 to 19....................
