Unless you can find out the name of his father, I doubt that you'll be able to make a connection

Thanks Flick

I know the name comes from Scotland, but any ideas how I link to my Thomas living and married in London, that's what I'm struggling with.

Regards

Gary

Should say "the last child born in Birmingham"

Gary

Gary Report 29 Oct 2010 13:39

Hello,

I'd be most grateful for some hints and tips on tracing an ancestor's birthplace. I've assumed a birthdate of about 1757, from marriage entry (see below).
Offspring are born in Stepney, Finsbury, the lst child Jane in Birmingham (1794).

I've tried the IGI Index and there's a Thomas Balnaves in Scotland about the right age. However I have no information to make the leap from Scotland to London (even though the Balnaves name is pretty rare). I haven't had much luck with the Burbidge name either.

I have entries in my tree where name is spelt Balnave, Belanaves and Belnevs (and variations thereof). They are clearly all the same family.

Any tips coud offer would be most appreciated

Many thanks

Gary
