I know its a bit later than the 1944 your looking for but my mother was born in London possibly Tooting possibly Chelsea 16/11/1953 with the surname Ann MacGurk. Her brothers were called Kenneth & Dennis. I think they had changed their name to Mears by the time I was born in 1973 when they lived in New Haw Surrey. My mothers mother was called Rose, don't know if any of this means anything if so let me know, Rob

thats interesting I didnt think of a name spelling change and soundex didnt suggest it either
For info I took the liberty of contacting Ann who has Sidney in her tree and she is a relative of Sidney but cant help any further . she is in touch with them .
We are at the stage now of trying to locate Maureen on the electoral roll in Kent , she shows to 2008 on www192.com but they want a big subs to view the info.

The name seems to change to Mcgurk too. James was born as Mcgurk and Brenda appears to marry under that name.

wonder if she passed away after 2005 ?? I can only see her birth on Ancestry . Have found lots on maureen though & her daughter and on www192.com she is on the electoral roll to 2008 so may still be around in the Medway area have advised june how to contact Jean for a look up & nudged up Jeans thread

Sorry my Norton doing its big weekly check so been watching TV. Yes June has responded to my PM,s and I have just replied to her explaining how to find Jean to ask for an electoral roll look up for Maureen & her daughter
I dont think June quite understands how the boards work . I will PM her again and explain how to repond on the the thread although all the info i did find was too recent to post on it as apart from finding her hubby had died the others are still living.

so now found the birth of a grandchild for maureen and have PMD the info.

With the info i have sent you re the marriages you have some good leads now for an Electoral Roll look up

will PM you possible marriage for Maureen and child of the marriage PLUS a poss marriage for the child !
