Diane, the William who tried to commit suicide was a relative.
He was the father of Frederick Hy TOOTELL (b. 1864 in Clare district to Wm TOOTELL and Marion PAT[T]ERSON)
And he was the grandfather of Wm Lander TOOTELL.

Helo Cherily,
Many thanks indeed for all your work. Thank goodness the William who tried to commit suicide was not a relative.
I now am trying to find out where in South Australia they lived when mum Roma Joyce was born. I know she was born in East Street, Torrensville on 21 November, 1916, but have no idea where they lived.
Many thanks
Diane (you may email me direct on [email protected]) if you prefer.

Your grandparents' marriage (have to say there was a lot of black worn by the guests!)
Chronicle, Saturday 7 June 1913 MARRIAGES. A bright wedding eventuated at the Torrensville Church of Christ on Saturday evening, May 31, when Miss Olive Gertrude (Stella) Spry, second daughter of Mr. W. Charles Spry, of West Adelaide, was married to Mr. W, L. Tootell, only son of Mr. F. H. Tootell. of Thebarton. The Rev. E. Ewers was the officiating minister. The church presented a picturesque scene, having been artistically decorated by the girl friends of the bride with flowers and foliage. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very charming gowned in white ivory silk, trimmed with silk lace and pearl ornaments. She also wore the orthodox wreath of orange blossom, from which depended a veil, and she carried a lovely shower bouquet. In attendance of the bride were Miss Elsie Spry (sister of bride) and Miss Perriam, both of whom wore cream choly costumes, with silk lace trimmings. There were also two little train bearers. the Misses Phyllis Spry and Thelma Treloar, dressed in pink silk dresses, and carrying baskets of pink carnations. Mr. Hunt fulfilled the duties of best man, and Mr. Gordon Spry acted as groomsman. As the happy couple left the church Mrs. Ewers played the 'Wedding March.' A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's parents. when about 60 gueste sat down to partake of the many delicacies provided. The usual toasts were honored, and a musical and elocutionary programme followed. Miss H. Bonney presided at the piano. Thr bride's travelling costume was a grey cloth coat and skirt, grey hat with large white ostrich feather. The bride groom presented the bride with a handsome set of toilet requisites, and to the bridesmaids be gave gold brooches. The happy couple were the recipients of many useful and handsome presents. Hello everyone who has been greatly helping me. Well now I know a little bit more, the name I am looking for is Sarah Ann Jane Picking who became Drouyn, who then went on to marry William Lander Tootell my grandfather. Now my problem is where is the lovely lady. I am running out of place to look. I gather she must have died as she was born in 1880, but where is she now so that I can hopefully finish this part of my tree.
Is there any wonderful person out there who is able to help me. Oh by the way it is in Australia, I do know she lived and married in Queensland, then went to New South Wales, and then I gather she is in Queensland but please, please can you help me.
I would be so grateful.

Hi Dianne, Not knowing your grandfather's name, I had a search in Queensland records for a marriage of Olive Spry without success (to 1934, the cutoff for public access to Queensland marriages. As for Sarah Ann Bronwyn, the last is more likely to be a personal name than a surname. What was your grandfather's name? Colin in Sydney NSW.
