I'm very, very late in posting this, but just wanted to say that I did finally find who I was looking for, and got as far back as Elizabeth's great grandparents. It would probably have taken a lot longer without the help I got on here, so once again, thank you to everyone who replied! |

Cheers Derek, and Brummiejan again! Now I am (fairly !) sure that Elizabeth was from Darlington, but narrowing her down as to age could take a while! Every answer throws up another question... |

On the marriage cert, Burley was living at 43 Ryehill, Newcastle, and Elizabeth at Dene House, Saville Row, Newcastle. Their witnesses were Mary Jane Hogg and William Hogg. Elizabeth's middle name is given as Ann, but I have learned already from my foray into genealogy that it is just as likely to have been Hannah! So thanks Mrs G, and Brummiejan again. A brickie's labourer isn't a million miles from a stonemason I guess... ;-) |

Thanks Pete and Brummiejan. The fact that she was born in Darlington will be a great help when trawling through the records! Very much appreciate your help. |

This is a **huge** long shot, but I am really stuck! Trying to find my great grandmother Elizabeth Wood's family. All I know for sure is that she was born 1882/1883, was 25 (according to the marriage certificate) at the time of her marriage to Burley Jarvis in 1908 in Newcastle upon Tyne, and her father Joseph, already deceased by the time of Elizabeth's marriage, was a stonemason. I don't know where Elizabeth was born, or about any siblings etc. Burley was born in Yorkshire, and was still there by the 1901 census, but where he met Elizabeth is another mystery! I have so far been unable to find her or her father on any census with any certainty. If anyone can shed even a chink of light onto this part of my family I would be extremely grateful. |
