Note the spelling of his surname that may be why you couldn't find it, it was on Family Search.

James McCabe was known to have his name (along with several other doctors) on advertisements for patent remedies, including Dinnefords. I don't think he invented it, just recommended it, along with several other medicines.

Thank-you for your reply and interest.
Martin Oreilly McCabe bn 1823? died 1848 in Derby according to BMD.
James birth date unsure guess 1825, Eliza guess 1827, Frances from census 1829 Julia 1831 guess and my Gt Grandfather 1833 abt.
I have a old typed family tree copied many times and it has Eliza Martin=James McCabe Cheltenham 1823 i presume that could of been there marriage year?
I would love to know this date for certain.
Have found lots of info on Elizas family through worldwide connection project and the census on her brothers .

Any info on Dr James McCabe born 1774 , died 1850 in Cheltenham. Family story has been told that James had something to do with Dinnerfords Milk of Magnesia. Would love some ideas of how to find out more.
Cannot find any marriage details, his wife was Eliza Martin they had six children, Martin Oreilly, James, Eliza, Frances, Julia and Charles,my Gt Grandfather,can only find info on Frances in the 1881 and 1901census as she was a nun. Any info on this family or suggestions would be appreciated
