Lorraine!! Funny..was only going through the Barrow Registers in the library at Barrow on Soar.....last week!..i actually work in Loughborough.

Send me your details and I'm sure i can help.

At present I am aware of FOUR different LITHERLAND entries in thos records...

William and Sarah
John and Ann(e)
Thomas and Esther
John and Sarah.
..and a marriage for HONOR LITHERLAND to William Spittlehouse 06.11.1809
EDIT.....in your absence gradually building up a continuous picture of the Litherlands in Barrow...including the latest burial..of one Lettice Elizabeth Litherland who was buried 30.05.1937..aged 77.........and who born Elizabeth Black..( just being clever!!! lol)..I await your orders!!

Hello again LA...........right. as i said..the only baptism for ANN PEGG I can find is the one 09.04.1815.............daughter of THOMAS PEGG and ANN LUDLOW who were married at Repton 07.11.1814..........I don't know how much the alleged dob of 1811 really matters, but at best it will be approximate.
There was an Ann Pegg who was baptised Repton 03.03.1811..but she died in 1821..in case of any future confusion, her parents were Samuel and Lydia (nee Higgins)..

On the bas
is that Ann Pegg 1815 is likely to be your Ann Measham 1811.......her parents were THOMAS PEGG and ANN LUDLOW..married at Repton 07.11.1814.

The parents of Ann Ludlow baptised repton 02.06.1795 were james Ludlow and Mary...

The parents of Thomas Pegg who married Ann ludlow were harder to pin down becasue thomas was not from Repton.....

But because they were both so young when they married....they are in fact on the 1851 Census..........Ann Pegg..of Repton 1796....and Thomas Pegg of Littleover 1798...............ergo...........back to Littleover and we have:-

THOMAS PEGG baptised 22.10.1798..son of Joseph Pegge and Sarah......

all of which is likely..but not 100%

Derek.

Good morning Derek, I hope you are well. I need a bit of help with my dreaded lot again please.

Henry Measham married Ann Pegg born 1811,Repton. Do you have any information on her family as I think some of her siblings may link into my tree a lot further down. Any information gratefully received as always :-D

Good Evening Derek.......firstly apologies for not getting back to you sooner, have had a really busy few days. Thank you for the information about George Jackson and Hannah Townshend.

You are most probably right that Emma Jackson was born prior to the happy couples marriage in 1829. At her baptism her mothers name may have been recorded as Ann instead of Hannah as very similar, the fact that she was also baptised at St Alkmunds makes it more likely and I suspect her mother must have been baptised there in 1809.

Am not to worried about Hannah but were you able to find any further details of Georges parents and any siblings ?

Susan :-S

Thanks Derek here goes.
William James Allen (known as James) was born 1870 in Hady parents William and Ann Allen nee Hardy.
1871 census living Hady lane with parents and sister Annie born 1869
1881 census still living Hady with father and siblings
1891 census still living Hady lane. But James is now head of family to his brothers and sister Annie, and it states daughter Mabei age 1

This is where I hope you can help me if possible I can-not find a birth for Mabel nor a death up to the next census. I am thinking maybe Mabel is not his daughter. But his sister Annies child (I could be wrong) Without a birth certificate I'm not sure.

1901 census James is married with a family he married Margaret Malloy in 1893 and they are living in Bottom Alley But Mabel is not living with them.
Also I cannot find Annie maybe she married and took Mabel with her if the child was her's

So if you can throw at light on my query I would I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Derek, at least we now know he existed ;-). Typical Meashams very elusive :-D

Derek

Derek Report 6 May 2013 17:36

Hi Gooner..........well i have found him..briefly!

HENRY MEASHAM married ANN PEGG 07.10.1834....at Repton.

They had the following children:-

Charles baptised 09.11.1834( !!!!!!) died 12.01.1835
John 29.11.1835
Thomas 02.09.1838
Samuel 20.12.1840

They are on the 1841 Census.............but by 1851 Henry has disappeared..and I cannot find a death for him..Ann Measham is a pauper...living with two of her sons........

Both Ann and Henry were apparently born .1811.........

Henry Measham, son of Gilbert and Mary was baptised 04.01.1818..not 1811......but we've been here before with your unmentionable family!!...being baptised 1818 does not mean he wasn't born 1811.............particularly as the only baptism I can find for ANN PEGG is 09.04.1815......but her age on the 1841 and 1851 is consistent with her being born 1811........
Hmmph!!

Derek.

Can you do a double check for me Derek as I have found very confusing dates for Henry according to census I have found. He is the son of Gilbert and Mary Meakin and I have found 2 conflicting dates for his birth. :-S :-S :-S :-S. Thanks

LaGooner Report 6 May 2013 07:25

Possibly Derek, I had the marriage passed on to me by another member and wanted to check it out. I found a marriage between a Henry and Ann Pegg (Pallots) but nothing else at all .

Derek

Derek Report 6 May 2013 00:08

Jeez!!..............does your Henry Measham..possibly spelt (or mis-spelt) Meacham..............have children..john 1836..Thhomas 1839..and Samuel 1840..mother being Ann...........?????????????

LaGooner Report 5 May 2013 23:24

Well Derek I am on another planet most of the time too :-D :-D :-D.

Another puzzle for you I have Henry Measham marrying Ann Pegg 7 Oct 1834 and that's about all. Nothing known of Ann and no census that I can find.

Thanks
