LindaB,

thomas maskrey wasnt baptised at shirley,i have the parish records.

on ancestry there is a tree with thomas maskrey and elizabeth swinscoe.
this tree has thomas maskrey born in mappleton in 1805 parents john maskrey and sarah holmes.

i think that if derek could do his magic and have a look at the mappleton records for proof (not that i am doubting the ancestry tree.)you might be lucky.

over to you derek.

Hi Derek..

I am helping my friend with her tree and we come to a full stop and I am hoping you may be able to help us please...

We are looking for the baptism of a Thomas Maskery b c1807 Shirley, Derbyshire please. Having googled Shirley it is in Ashbourne...not that I need to tell you lol. I have checked the IGI but there is no reference.

We know that Thomas married Elizabeth Swinscoe on 16/11/1830 at St Oswald Church, Ashbourne and by 1841 they had settled in Longton, Staffordshire.

Any help Derek is much appreciated..

Linda

Hi Derek,

I would be very grateful for info on the following:-

Baptism of Joseph N Lee, born q4 1911 Glossop. I have been told that this should be the place of Glossop as opposed to the registration district!!

Also the baptism of Ada Goddard, also born q4 1911 in Glossop.

Many thanks
Paula

Hello Michele..have been looking at your Tree.......can tell you that if your JOHN CARR was indeed born at Stannington..then he was baptised 04.06.1786 son of ROBERT CARR and MARY nee RICHARDSON who were married at Alnwick 07.08.1778.

Since we're looking for an elusive John Carr 1835 Bedlington, there is another baptism for another John Carr (at bedlington) 11.04.1784 son of William and Anne. I am not suggesting this one is the right one, but its close enough to consider!!

Good morning Elaine....in the first place you won't get to Matlock in this weather/I've tried and i live in Nottingham!!.secondly my track record will show that i never confirm anything i haven't checked out thoroughly, and in this case i am quite happy with my findings...a mixture of Birth records, successive census records and other info on Ancestry and IGI, all hang together better than anyone could hope...
The only way you will completely satisy yourself is by sending for the Marriage Certificate, which will have the fathers name.and if it isn't Alfred Burton Wood I'll send £100 to any charity you designate!

Joy..an odd one this.....at the moment i have found Fanny M Makings baptised Codnor Derby 1857 daughter of henry and Betsy Makings..no sign of any Cooper.will continue lokking.
ADDITION 23.20 Monday..........I suspect that Elizabeth (Betsy) Makings maiden name was Cooper.
There is no doubt that Fanny maria was their daughter.I have them on 1861 1871 and 1881

Henry makings came from Suffolk (b 1833) and Elizabeth from Codnor (born 1827)..she may have been married previously..
They had the following children Ruth 1853..Fanny Maria 1856..Samuel 1858 and James henry 1863.
In 1871 there is a Ruth Cooper living with them styled as "daughter-in-law" born Eastwood Notts.
In 1881 Fanny maria and James henry are still living with their parents at 34 Basford Road Nottingham..which is, funnily enough just two streets from where i am sitting right now!!.
So it seems that somewhere or other Elizabeth may have been a Cooper...........nowhere is there any documentation that says Fanny Maria was born a Cooper........and she was the second daughter bornfive years after henry and Betsy were married...It's Ruth who may have caused the confusion.
Best wishes

Michele.John Carr's marriage to Isabella Boag is recorded in Crich Parish records 03.01.1866. He is from Dronfield, she from Crich.
There is a possible conflict over the first marriage of John Carr...have seen the census entries..the fact is that John carr married Elizabeth Reed 28.07.1858 at NEWCASTLE.
a John Carr also married JANE CAIRNS 17.08.1858 at EGLINGHAM......quite some way from Newcastle.......yet the 1861 Census clearly states his wife (Jane) came from Newcastle...
I have no information that will differentiate between the two.......I have to leave you to decide.

Hi

I'm really hoping you can help me solve a puzzle. In my tree I have:

MAKINGS, Fannie Marie (Maria) born c1856, Ilkeston.

She was actually born Fanny Marie COOPER.

I last have her in 1881 Census living with HENRY & ELIZABETH MAKINGS, listed as Fanny Makings baptism takes place in 1863 in Ripley.

I've searche till I'm blue in the face looking for marriage or death in either name only to come up with nothing.

Would love to know what became of her & crossing my fingers you can help solve this mystery.
