Hello Rockfish......certainly can....you've come to right place

I have 67 Ludlam baptisms 1740-1875

I have 35 Ludlam marriages 1603-1893

I have 63 Ludam burials 1718-1902

If you want them all I'll probably have to kill myself!!

But you're very welcome, it'll just take some time..cos I like working out all the relationships...or have you some particular Ludlams in mind to start with?

Hello Claire......I need to know the source of your information before I can help you.

I have the Hope Parish Records 1600-1894..and there are no Beresfords anywhere in those records.....except for a Berrisford married in 1798.
There are no other Beresford or any variation of the name born married or buried in Hope.

The nearest I can can get is a George Beresford born North Wingfield 1886

Hello Derek, you ignoring me LOL.???? Any luck with my enquiry on 17th please.

Derek

Derek Report 20 Apr 2011 15:59

Hello Qouy.......I don't have Parish records for that late date..but I can tell you from England and Wales Marriage Index, that the marriage took place in Chesterfield April/May/June 1924.

The only way of getting more details is by sending for the Marriage Certificate.

Hi Derek, Yes that is the correct family. Edward married Martha Targett. My notes date from 1985 and are very muddled. I know Edward and Martha also had a child George and he was aged 26 when he married in Australia in 1857. George Ranger died in Feb 1873 in Australia.

I need to do more work on James Ranger. He does not seem to fit into the story of George and his family and I am puzzled as to why he is mentioned in these notes.

Thank you for your assistance it gives me a start and at least now I know I have the correct county in the UK.

Derek Report 19 Apr 2011 23:58

Hi Aunty Sherlock..there are loads of Rangers in Wiltchire both before and after 1839..and yes it IS Hindon.........

Have found the marriage of Edward and Martha (Targett) at Salisbury 25.10.1813.and two of their children HESTER 25.12.1831 and JANE 15.08.1824

JAMES RANGER appears to ha married ANN WATKINS 26.12.1821..anjd had seven children before 1837..........but there is some suggestion..unconfirmed that this James Ranger (born 1800 Hindon) never left the UK........

That's as far as i can go....

Thank you for the ferretting. I managed to find a census for George and Martha but they were 73 and 72 and it only listed one child and I think a grand child. Was wondering if this was a parish records type search.

Derek Report 19 Apr 2011 23:03

Hello Aunty..I'm afraid that Wiltshire is about as far from Derbyshire as it is possible to get in UK...............

I have managed to find a JAMES RANGER born Wiltshire in 1800..who married ANN WATKINS 26.12.1821..which would fit with him having five children by 1839.
Can find no mention yet of either a George or an Edward Ranger ..but I'll have a wee ferret around.

All the best

Derek.

AuntySherlock Report 19 Apr 2011 22:11

Hi Derek, Is Wiltshire close enough to Derbyshire???

From notes I have on the Ranger family, dates between 1799ish and 1841. Families travelling from UK to NSW Australia. Interested in piecing together their family structure in the UK prior to journey to Australia.

Excerpts from notes read........
George was the son of Edward Ranger and Martha Target and a native of Hinden Co Wiltshire. ( I am wondering if it should be "Hinton". ). George Ranger was married in Australia in 1857.

and

In 1839 James Ranger, aged 40, and his five children arrived on the Alfred. (Have no idea where James and his five children fit into this story, wondering if he was George's brother).

Thank you if you have any info. If not, not to worry, and thanks anyway.

Hello Tox..thank you for your Pm........

SAMUEL GODLEY baptised Whitwell Derbyshire20.01.1778 son of Samuel and Ann nee Pacey

Samuel Godley married Ann Pacey at Whitwell 08.01.1776

Ann Pacey was baptised at Whitwell 05.01.1754 daughter of George and Ann Pacey.
Samuel Godley senior appears to have come from outside Derbyshire..but as Whitwell is so close to Worksop in Notts..I'm quite sure i will find him.

Please reply on here rather than on PM.

Good luck EDIT:- the Samuel Godley who married Ann Pacey was born c.1747 in England...no other details except h3 died at Whitwell 30.09.1812.....
