Hello Nigel

The post from Jacqueline is very old, so she won't see it. If you click on her name, you can send her a message, assuming she still has the same email address

If you ever find out Jackie, I'd be interested to know too. I have Bowsher's from East Garston in my direct line.

Regards,

Nigel.

Jacqueline Report 29 Oct 2009 12:35

On 13th December, 1819 four brothers named Bowsher (Amos,24; John, 20; Priesthood [sometimes spelt Prestwood] 14 and Richard, 22) sailed to South Africa as part of a party led by Major George Pigot. The boys were all farmers, who apparently did well for themselves, all becoming independent farmers. They landed in Algoa Bay on 30th April, 1820.
Does anyone out there know anything about what eventually happened to them. My trail has gone cold.
They all came from the Lambourne area of Berkshire.
