Trying to trace all the crew that served along with my G Grandfather Alexander Stephenson
The ship was sunk on the 21st Aug 1917
All 43 lives were lost

Hi Michelle,
As Peter says quite a task.

I have just looked up one on the CWGC site.

Leopold A Bernays awarded CMG & DSO he was 32 yrs old and the son of the late Rev. A E Bernays.

Suggest you start with the more unusual names.

I have got bits & pieces on some of the crew, it is made harder as some of them died without knowing their ages

Son of Brian Charles and Lily Rosina Capewell, of 35 Union Road, Clapham, London. His brother Frederick Harold also fell.
Remembered at Plymouth Naval Memorial
HMS "Vala" was a Q boat, torpedoed on 21 August 1917.

You could get the service records for any that you can't find any information on, from the documentsonline site. At £3-50 each you might not want to get all of them!
