I have Cyril George HAYWARD born Oct 1901 in Brighton England(according to his enlistment records in Australia) but I can't find his birth on FreeBMD.

I believe his father's name was William but I have nothing more to go on.

He was my maternal grandmother's 2nd husband.

Anyone got any ideas???

There is Cyril George Hayward in the 1911 census living in Dorsetshire but he was born 1903. Irene

Thanks Irene and Mrs M.

I am not sure when he came to Australia or if he came directly to Western Australia. Can't see any obvious 'hits' on findmypast. It is possible he was married previously as well.

I had wondered that too Mrs M, but his year of birth late 1901 fits with his age at death (Jan 1969 aged 67).

So still a bit stuck with this one!

Only birth in Sussex
Cyril George Piercey 1901 Apr-May-Jun Brighton Sussex, East Sussex
Maybe his mother married after the birth?

Yes Lesley, he married my grandmother in Perth Western Australia in 1950.

Before that I think he was married to Rhoda Cavelle ORCHARD in 1941, also in Perth. She died aged only 38 in 1948.

Thanks Jim, very good theory, will follow up on that!

Anyone else able to see him, please??

It could be, Somersetgirl, I can't see him coming to Western Australia directly.

He is a bit of a mystery man.

UPDATE: Cyril George was born as HYNARD in Suffolk and came to WA in 1924 shortly after marriage. Some time later he left his wife and son and changed his name to HAYWARD, enlisting in the army. He then remarried (3 times!) as HAYWARD, and died under that name. His first wife filed for divorce (after his 2nd marriage!) and remarried.

Thanks to Viv for her help with this one! :-D

Glad you have got this sorted out.

Seems a pity that some members deleted their posts.
