Hello Jacqueline and thank you for your kind offer to help.
On the 1871 census I am looking for Stephen and Margaret Aspinall, (or Aspinwall) both born about 1835 and their children Margaret and Ellen and possibly Catherine.
Stephen worked on the barges on the Leeds/Liverpool Canal. Obviously not sure if they were 'on board' or at home on census night. The family were from the Burscough/Lathom area of Lancashire but travelled on the boats up to Liverpool.
Thank you again, from Beryl

Hi Jacqueline,

I'm searching for the last location and death dates of my Grandmother Lydia Mellors and her second husband. She was born Lydia Knowles 1889 in Bury, first marriage was to David Mitchell in Halifax in 1907 where they lived, after his death I know she married Frank Mellor (not sure where he was born) in Lambeth in June qtr of1937 . I am assuming they lived and died in Lambeth thereafter.

Can you help please ?

Thank you, Frank

Edit:- It appears Lydia was living in Halifax in the early 1940's staying with her son - but Mellor wasn't with her - so she may have separated from him unless he had died.

Hi Jackie,
Can you check out several requests for me please?
Fred Spencer b 1897 (Wolverhampton I think) married Edith Mary Ball 1901 Walsall, Fred was married before this and had a child - is there a way you can find this marriage for me? It would be in either of areas mentioned
I am thinking c 1917 to 1938.
Can you tell me when Fred died?
When did William C Ball (b1902)die - He married May Reeves b 1905 lived Walsall
Finally Albert Evans b c1905 when DIED ?? (m Marion Ball 1909)
They lived in Derby.
Thank you

Emily Report 29 Apr 2010 18:08

Hi Jaqueline

I wondered if you could help me with an ancestor of mine, His name is Henry Stone he was born in 1849 @ Weston on trent (registration district Shardlow)

I have him on the 1881 Census with his wife Elizabeth ann Stone (nee Brown) and their 7 children, one of which was my great grandfather Samuel.

Is it possible to find him on earlier census's????? He was living at Stanley/ Stanley Common in 1881 which is where my great grandfather was born. Also would it be possible to find him on later census's with his family???

I hope you can help and that this message isnt too confusing.

Thanks Emily. x

Hi Penny,

I'm afraid it is sometimes due to the fact that members of the household did not read nor write and it was left to guesswork by the person taking details for census as to how they thought the names were spelled. It is a matter of trying all spelling variations
