Hi Jeanette,

Fly Coachman / Flyman
Fly Proprietor 1) Drove a "fly" a one horse two wheeled light carriage 2) Flyman also a term for a theatre stage hand 3) A Fly Proprietor employed fly drivers for hire and usually owned the flys.

I cannot find Julia anywhere either, sorry

hi again...i now have bit more info re julia hutchence,she was born in walcot bath in 1853,her father was george hutchence fly owner (any idea what this is?)and cab proprietor.in 1881 she was cook for george stuckey lean,banker,@14 lansdown crescent bath.In 1882 she married james john bates in abergavenny.they lived at Barton place, queens square tavern (possibly Bath or abergavenny?) he emigrated to america (1897)after their son george was born(1883) i have george in wales living with his grandfather in 1891 census.But what happened to julia? i cant find her anywhere after her marriage or before 1881 census, any ideas ??? please jacqueline, thank you

Hi Jeanette,

It would probably be a good idea to get a copy of the marriage certificate from gro.gov.uk as this will give both father's names and occupations and make it easier to go back correctly

Hi Jackie wonder if you could help me again please.
Looking for anything you can find on my g g grandparents.
i have julia Hutchence (in 1881 census a servant in house in Bath) born aprox 1853 in either bath or hereford? she married james bates in aprox 1882 in abergavenny(?) they had a son called George in 1883.and i can find nothing more either before 1881 or after their marriage.....

Hi Im stuck, George Brown born Parkend Bream c1878 married mary jane reynolds 1900.Georges Father recorded as joseph brown. would like to get birth certificate so i can prove his mother and check census and find out more, and go back some more.

Thanks for finding this STEVENS family-now confirmed as not mine.
I am looking for William STEVENS b c 1829 who would only be in 1841 census (came to AUS before 1849). He was son of Richard.
