Thank you so much. How quickly you discovered this. Yes, he was indeed an ice-cream vendor. Anna Maria was his wife. She died at some between 1931-1936, according your research.
Harriet had not yet married him obviously.
I wonder what Harriet was doing in the years up until she married him in late 1930s. She left Hobart many years earlier.
Kind regards
Wendy

Funnily enough these are the only records between 1900-1940 for Gallenchio marriages. Perhaps he and harriet never married, at least not in Vic?

Hi Wendy
Here is the marriage:
Family Name: GALLICHIO Given Name: Dominico Spouse Family Name: ANDREWS Spouse Given Name: Mary Harriet Registration Year: 1934 Registration Number: 8163 Event: M
I can't find deaths for Domenico or Anna or Harriett - do you know where they died?
A Mary Carmella GALLICHIO, dau of Domenico & Maria, died in 1981 aged 69 in Fitzroy (reg 14984). (She looks to be the one who married Louis GALLICHIO).
Son of Domenico & Anna Maria, Domenico Antonio GALLICHIO died in 1980 aged 67 (reg 10816). He was born in Carlton in 1913 (10464) to Domenico & Anne nee BOFFA.
Another son, Joseph, died 1972 aged 52 in Melbourne (reg 6222); mother shown as Anna Maria BOFFA. He may be the one one born in Carlton as Giuseppe in 1919 (reg as GALLIOCCHIO to Domenica & Annie nee BOFIA, 17444).
Domenico & Anna also had a son named Michael who died aged 1 in 1922 (reg 13010).
Maybe Domenico & Anna divorced as I can't see her death at all.
This looks like something to do with a business they set up:
GALLICHIO Domenico: Nationality - Italian: Date of Birth - 24 January 1874: First registered at Little Bourke Street GALLICHIO Maria: Nationality - Italian: Date of Birth - 16 March 1880: First registered at Little Bourke Street
and maybe this:
Domenico Gallicchio - Application for Naturalization 1916-1926

Thank you again for this useful information. I am sorry to rather long replying i bushfires, family illness and such have taken my time.
I know that Harriett died in Melbourne in a Catholic nursing home or hospice sometime after World War 2, probably late 1940s/early 1950s.
She may have died using the name Mary rather than Harriet. I am sure he would not have divorced his wife as they would have been strict Catholics, so not sure what happened to her, but we now know that Harriet/Mary was married to him in 1934. Mary/Harriet's husband who she had left many years before died in 1930.
I am curious to know what she did in the years between leaving him and the children in Hobart (before WW1) and when she married iagain in 1934.

Hi Wendy, In answer to your enquiry, I think we might share the same great grandmother, Harriet Andrews nee Gloster. I think I might be able to help you with the missing years. Please contact me as I'm keen to find out more about her life and also give you the information I have. Regards, Diana Alcorn
