Maureen -
as it's 6 years since Polly posted that, she's not likelyu to be looking for replies here now, I'm afraid.

You can try sending her a personal message (click on her name at the top of her post).
If she still has the same email address, GR will notify her that she has a message from you.

However, re Sarah - I know it's her maiden name you want, but as a start

here she is in 1851:

Same family as the 1851 posted above - for our info and to get an idea of when the marriage may have been

Edit: Wrong couple.

There's a marriage in 1840 of Joseph Blackburn & Sarah Blackburn. Both fathers seem to be Henry although her father was transcribed as Mary. His father is deceased, hers a blacksmith.

Yes, Maureen's the OP - just thought she might want to contact Polly!

That 1840 marriage doesn't look like the right one.
I think this is that Royston couple in 1861:

Margee

That 1840 marriage is in Cudworth, Barnsley. Joseph is listed as a farmer and on the censuses he is a cloth dresser or something like that!

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 24 Apr 2015 17:45

Yes you're right, Gins, wrong couple. Also Sarah is older than Joseph on the censuses but younger on that marriage record.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 24 Apr 2015 17:57

In 1851 census, Sarah's a power loom weaver, born Horton 1817.

I'm wondering about this girl, a power loom weaver born Horton c1816, with son Enoch born 1838 Horton.

As Maureen was originally looking for Joseph's parents, I wonder if this is him with his mother Elizabeth in 1841?

Elizabeth and John listed as born in county, the rest as born in Ireland (pinch of salt??)
An Ancestry member has corrected the "I" for Ireland , saying that it's actually a Y, meaning born in county. I must say it looks like a I to me, and is in the "Scotland, Ireland or Foreign Parts" column, whereas other entries on the same page are clearly listed as Y or N in the "Born in County" column, and the Y's don't look like the I.
