Hi Sophie

Have done lots of research on the Coombes family and have the latest cd's (up to 2003) but have not found any info before John. He does however appear to have a brother James.

Dear Sophie

My Coombes/Coombs/Combes and other spellings start about 1745 in Wootton and Blaydon near woodstock, not that many miles away.

I have lots of James' as well.

You will need to check all surrounding parishes. I have yet to do that.

Hi Sophie

The registers for Milton under Wychwood did not start until 1854 ,it was a chapelry of Shipton under Wychwood until then and all ealier entries are in the Shipton registers

I have both places on fiche .

Shipton u Wychwood registers commence in 1538 and there is only one Coombes baptism in 1602 (John s John) and then no more until 1705 when a James starts baptising children,there are then LOTS until 1898 when the transription finishes.

I cannot see a marriage for William either.

Where did you get the info from?

Does any one know anything about John Coombes from Milton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire. He was born about 1675 and married a Mary Wheeler b.1679 also in Milton.

I can not trace them further back, any help would be appreciated.
