In 1943, an Edward Lavery lived at 82 Beechfield Street (James Edward's address at time of death).

(From this website:

[But may have nothing to do with your husband's family, Marie.]

Don't know if any of this will be of use to you, Marie - don't know if Mary's family is linked to yours or not:

This is a very useful free website:
http://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/community/burialrecords/burialrecords.aspx

Click on "Search for burial records" about halfway down the page.
You'll see that James Edward Lavery (Mary's grandfather) was buried in Roselawn Cemetery, Belfast.
If you then click on "view details" you'll see he was 73 when he died, which would make his birth around 1893.
His address at time of death was 82 Beechfield Street.

Then click on U96 (grave section and number), it says that in the same grave was buried Sarah Lavery, age 76, who died 19 January 1973.
That's presumably Mary's grandmother.

Against her name, click on "view details".
Her last place of residence was 20 Connsbrook Avenue.

From a search on Ancestry:
there's this possibility for his birth - assuming he was born in Belfast, and assuming 1893 is right:

Ireland, Civil Registration Births Index, 1864-1958 about James Edward Lavery
Name: James Edward Lavery
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1893
Registration district: Belfast
Volume: 1
Page: 407
FHL Film Number: 101064

Did he have a sister called Jeannie/Jenny ? I am researching my husband's grandmother. All we know is that she was born in Belfast between 1895 and 1900 and was called Lavery . She married my husband's grandfather and moved to Cork, then eventually to England.
Thank you
Marie
