If anyone has access to Scottish Records, can I ask for help ? I'm tracing the history of the crew of 106 Sqn. Lancaster ED451, lost over Essen, 30th.April 1943. The pilot, Sydney Abel, was a relative of mine. The rear Gunner on the crew was Douglas Brown. He was the son of David and Fanny Rae Brown. He was born in 1922, as he was 21 when killed. I think he may have come from Kirkcudbrightshire. The Commonwealth War Graves site gives his next of kin as David and Fanny Rae and also has " nephew of Mrs. M Carson " Could this mean he was brought up by his aunt ? Or even adopted by her ? Any help would be great. I have a photo of him sent by the Alliston, Ontario, family of the Flt. Engineer, a Canadian lad called John Alderson Cheers, John
