Found this on another site thought you all might be interested.

Makes one think.

While looking for something else, I came across the following document. It's not actually a parish register but the register of a burial ground serving three parishes. Presumably that is a reason for the audit having taken place. I don't know of any circumstances whereby a normal parish register would be subjected to the same scrutiny.

"I thought you might find the report interesting. It's certainly a salutory reminder about the level of accuracy of the records used in genealogy."
