Descendants of William Burrell born cc 1894

Margaret Report 1 Oct 2008 19:11

My grandfather was one Reuben John Henman, born in Lidlington, Beds in 1872. He married Minnie Burrell in 1895 (Boxing Day) and I discovered from the census records that she already had a 1 year old son whose father's name does not feature on the son, William's birth certificate.
It is just possible that my grandfather was indeed the father of William, though I cannot be certain. My grandfather had a liaison with my biological grandmother following the death of his first wife Minnie and during his second marriage to my Great Aunt. My mother was the result of this affair, born secretly in London and hastily adopted via the Catholic church. My mother, though elderly, is still alive and well. She traced her birth mother, who had sadly died more than 20 years earlier. She looks nothing like the photos we have of her mother, so we can only assume that she favours her biological father's side of the family.
I would love to be able to discover anyone alive who can remember anything of Reuben John Henman or his stepson William Burrell. Reuben (also known as Jack or John) is buried at St Benedict's church in Stratton on the Fosse. He was 76 when he died.
I thought that William, born either in Wakefield or in Doncaster, may be a uesful thread to try to track.

I would be grateful for any information at all. Margaret
