If anyone is bored or have researched the above family names from wales (Aberdare) I would love to make contact with them. I am at a dead end with My Tree. My Grandmother (Ruby) came from cardiff road, aberdare. She was born in Merthyr Tydfil. Her parents were Henry/Harry Hillman and mother Jemima Harris. I cant find any marriage, and believe my grandmother may have been adopted afterwards as she did talk of some brothers or sisters. But never about her family........Pllllllleeeeaase

If the above is correct, if she gave birth to Ruby in 1920, she'd have been about 45 which is just about possible

If Jemima did die 1921, that could be a reason for Ruby to have been taken in by another family.

Formal adoption didn't start until later in the 1920s - 1926? If she married under the Hillman name, she was possibly fostered rather than 'adopted'.

Who are the witnesses on Ruby's MC? If they aren't obviously related to the Groom, they might be people she grew up with.

In the hope that Kim returns sooner than another 6 years..............

Reggie !!! Thank you soooo soooo much for all the hard work you have done for me, I have had a brief look - dont worry it wont take another 6 years ha ha...........Being a mother of young twins (aged 6) and a 9 year old plus working full time, I gave up on the family tree - as you can see for a very long while. Over the weekend I will print out and digest all the things you have kindly done for me and hopefully be able to put things in more perspective. I did obtain the Wedding Certificate, but it was a week before we moved house and it got put somewhere safe.....so safe I never found it - but I can remember it was a James Henry Hillman she married. Thanks again and if you dont mind, can i update you next week...... :-)

he lived 35 years after Jemima's death but does not seem to have remarried and perhaps had children ... it could have been a blended family where Ruby got her brothers and sisters ... but yes she could have been placed with another family when her father was widowed

but it's always possible he partnered with someone else who was already married (divorce being difficult at the time)

if you got his death certificate the informant could be a family member and the name might tell you something
