With a great deal of help from his regiment, I discovered a great deal about my granfather, even his hat and shoes size, and the fact that he had a sister, Ellen, born c1881who may have married a Campbell.
William Henry was born at St Pancas, London, but the family was from Edinburgh His father was William Alfred b 1854 d; 1913 at Canongate Edinburgh, lithographer by trade, and his mother either Mary O'Connell or Barbara Petrie Norquay. His grandfather wasRichard James, a woodcarver who married Marie Ann Jacobs.
If anyone can help me find out more about Ellen or about Mary O'Oonnell, Barbara Norquey or Mary Jacobs would be very pleased to hear from them.
