Richard Pike, Knight of the Bath

David Pike Report 9 Sep 2008 16:33

In Volume I of "The Knights of England. A complete record from the earliest time to the present day of the knights of all the orders of chivalry in England, Scotland, and Ireland, and of knights bachelors, incorporating a complete list of knights bachelors dubbed in Ireland" written/published in 1906 by William Arthur Shaw is the following entry among the list of the Knights of the Bath:

1324, Aug. 13. RICHARD PYKE, by the king's hand.

Given the exact date, and also that it was King Edward II himself that knighted Richard, I would hope to be able to find some more detailed records regarding Richard and why he was awarded this honour . But I don't know where to look for any such records. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,

- David.
