After reading the book on ( Swanage Past ) by David Lewer he gives an account of the Rev: Dr: Andrew Bell on his time at Swanage in Dorset. in 1807 there were no less then thirteen day-Schools in the Parish. one of these schools was kept by a pearson of the name of Gover who appears to have held a varity of offices besides that of Schoolmaster, he was a Clerk and Postmaster, Manager of a Benfit club, Attomey, Collector, and Accountant, a most useful individuals in the Parish. Having now found his first name which is Joseph, He married Martha Nee: Warren in 1780 at Swanage and a record burial on the 4th april 1817 age 63. I have not found a birth or baptism of him or who his parents were , I do hope there is some one who knows of him ? |
