Member Since: January 2005 Posts: 1 Send Message	I am trying to find ancestors of my maternal great great grandfather. Johan was born in Göteborg (Gothenburg) Sweden in 1862 and was the son of Nils Nilsson and Joh Jacobsson who were both born c1832. He was the eldest of 4 children that I know of. I information of decendants of his after he jumped ship in Australia in 1884. Key information: Father - Nils Nilsson born c1832 in Göteborg, Sweden Mother - Joh Jacobsson born c1832 in Göteborg, Sweden Spouse - Catherine Doyle born 1865 in Adelaide, South Australia Siblings - Hilma Nilsson born c1864 in Göteborg, Sweden - Anna Nilsson born c1866 in Göteborg, Sweden - Ernst Nilsson born c1868 in Göteborg, Sweden Johan was a seaman on board the SS Mathias which sailed from Göteborg on 20/02/1884 and arrived in Melbourne, Australia on 31/07/1884. This is where Johan jumped ship and in 1895 he became naturalised and changed his name from Nilsson to Nelson. Any information would be most appreciated regarding ancestors but decendants are welcome too. Those i have already been in contact need not worry as we have shared information already.
