A family mystery surrounds my grandmother's youngest sister Elizabeth. The family story is that when their mother died in 1912 at the age of 35yrs she left a young family of six children - Elizabeth being the youngest. Their father, unable to cope with all of them sent the young Elizabeth to another family to be brought up. We know nothing of how this was done, whether it was through church, legally or simply some sort of agreement. But the siblings never saw her again. Over the years my grandmother and her sisters tried in vain to find her but without success, and this has remained a sad mystery. I would so love to find out what happened to her and solve this for my aunts ( now all in their eighties). If anyone out there can help me with this I would be so thrilled. I have a copy of her birth certificate and know her full name on this is Elizabeth Westgate Pollard. Her father was John William Pollard and her mothers name was Margaret Ann (nee Gardener) Thanks with much hope, Eileen |
