hi, can anyone help? im trying to trace my grandmother isabella marion bond stewart, my mother lost contact with her mum when she was 2, i have very limited information on her but what i do have is below. any help would but greatly appreciated
thanks mike 1. Her birth information - 1932 Ref. 897/00 19 Sorbie Isabella Marion Bond Stewart born 1932 October 15th. Father - no entry, Mother - Jean Stewart (domestic servant) who later married James Heron
2. Her first marriage - 1949 Ref 889/00 2 Kirkinner Joseph McClymont (monumental polisher) 20yrs of 34 Arthur Street, Newton Stewart & Isobel Marion Bond Stewart (domestic servant) 17yrs of The Fever Hospital, Newton Stewart
3. They had 4 children - Bryan, Janice, Josephine (who are all still alive) and mum's twin John who died in infancy (June 1955). Josie is Sandy's sister-in-law.
4. Her husband died in a motorbike accident in Newton Stewart on 14 May 1955.
5. In 1961 she married James McCann (1961 Ref 644/12 341 Cathcart, Glasgow). He was 31 yrs, a bulldozer driver who was divorced. She was 28yrs, a nuse and a widow.
6. Mc Cann was born (1930 Ref 644/15 534 Hutchesontown, Glasgow) on 4 May 1930 t0 James McCann (railway clerk) and Agnes McCann ms Burns who were married on 30 March 1921. His first marriage was on 25 November 1950 at Balerno to Mary Alice Garret (papermill worker) 23yrs. They were divorcedon 17 July 1958. They had 3 children - James Patrick (1951), Michael John (1953), Kathleen (1955)
7. mum understands there was a child born in Glasgow but we have still to try to check this out as the record is too recent to access online. This may or may not have been McCann's - we don't know.
8. James McCann and Isobel went to Australia leaving her McClymont children in Scotland but we don't know whether he took his 3 children from his first marriage with them or not. As far as the possible child born in Glasgow is concerned, again we don't know if it went with them or not.
9. mum THINKS they went to somewhere starting with Q but not Queensland!!!
10. We've checked the death records here for both James McCann and Isobel but have found nothing.
mum would like to know if her mother is still alive and if she has any other siblings. There is a story that the mother tried to make contact after going to Australia suggesting that her children should go out to join her but the McClymont clan decided that this was not an option.
