I have found a damaged gravestone with the name Clarke on it in Beer, Devon. It's a stone cross covered in ivy. The centre of the cross has the letters H and S carved in stone with a sword going through it.
Underneath it says
"In loving memory of
Then the stone is chipped removing the beginning of a name that ends in ...INE CLARKE Can't read the date the stone has worn away
under that it says M. Clery
Then another illegible bit
then Into Rest
Under that Jane illegible 189? stone worn away.

Does this make sense to anyone?
