James NHF Stuart was born in 1835 and died in Liverpool in 1917, although I do not think he was from the area originally. He married Elizabeth Jane Cowell from County Wicklow, daughter of Henry Cowell.
I do not know where James NHF was born to help trace him.
His father's name, on the marriage certificate, was James Stuart, but there are too many people with this name for me to be able to trace the ancestors or find out more about him.
James NHF was an accountant, but for many years worked on ships as a ship's purser. He seems to have dodged most of the censuses. I have found his wife and family on censuses (usually mis-spelt as Stewart), but he remains elusive.
If anyone has any information I would be very grateful, as he was my great-gandfather.
