Belinda hasn't returned to this thread so is unlikely to be looking for replies .

If you click on her name you can send her a message with the info you have posted. She will receive it if her email address is still the same and can reply to you even if she is no longer a genes member

Hi Belinda
I think you have got confused with me. I am Dougie's son, Ian Douglas Murray Stott. My father was Douglas Albert Stott and was born in 1922 in Leuchars in Scotland. I have all the information you need. He was indeed a flight lieutenant spitfire pilot in WW2 and received the DFC for bravery from King (speech impediment) George. He was the Chairman and Director of 6 companies. Please reply and let me know how you are connected?

Best wishes

Ian

Just of interest there is no registered death fo a Douglas Murray Stott,
if he had buisnesses then it shouldnt be hard to find what name was used.

There are 9 regstered births for Douglas Stott in Scotland 1902 --1935, in many given areas but none registered as Douglas Murray Stott//Douglas M Stott.,as Scotlands birth records have a 100 year restriction to what can be viewed online, certificates can be ordered using the given ref details.

By phone it may be possible to get the right one if a fathers name and occ, is known from his marriage details.
The Murray may have been included at baptism or one he included himself.
----------------------------------------------------
If it is D.Albert Stott then he may have been registered in 1922 -Midlothian area,,,,,certificate has to be ordered to get full parentage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
If the same man, then he died in 1981 area Birmingham,
Douglas Albert Stott, 29th June 1922---1981.

HE married as Douglas A Stott- so where does the Murray come from?

Do you know what the A stands for please?

You really need to know that to narrow the search on Scotlandspeople for his birth.

As Reggie has said, you need to buy the marriage certificate to see who he named as his father and also see what age he gave.

The chances are he was born before the 1920s.

Anyone can access Scottish BMD records...allowing for the restrictions placed on their release.........by purchasing credits on Scotlands people website

Have you bought the marriage cert?

EDIT...no you can't have, or you'd not be guessing about when the marriage took place

I think you're doing what you did on your Garfield thread.........

Marriages Dec 1940 (>99%)
Fleming Irene F Stott Birmingham 6d 1213
Stott Douglas A Fleming Birmingham 6d 1213

Get the cert........for facts....unless he lied, of course

You need to look on Scotlandspeople, a pay to view site, for a possible birth.

I first posted this request in 2008 without any succcess. Now that records have advanced some what I thought I would try again.

I will try again with this. Didnt get any response the first time, he really seeems to be a problem
Does anyone have access to Scottish records. I believe he was born in Scotland, name Douglas Murray Stott.
He married Irene Fleming in Aston. He led a double life as she wouldn't divorce him, he had a second family of 3 or 4 children but we have no contact with them for obvious reasons.
He had two children with Irene, he was supposedly a pilot in ww2, but died a wealthy man owning companies. I'm not interested in his money or second family just trying to find roots as the saying goes. All I know is that he was born in Scotland in the 1920's( so the pilot thing may have been a bit of bragging on his part !!) I think he married around 1940 in Aston, from what I can find.

Any info would be useful

Thanks for looking.
