Hi to anyone who is looking at this page. There are not many SENAGOGAs listed in the UK as the name originally came from Italy (possibly Naples). My Gt Gt Grandad, Michael, came over from Italy to Durham area between 1881 and 1887. He married my Gt Gt Grandma Catherine Douglass in 1887 and they started a family. It is my belief that he didnt come over on his own, he possibly came over with another Sibling. His father was called Salvatore. If you think you could be related or just not sure but share the same surname, please get in touch with me. I would so long to hear from others who share this surname in their tree and hopefully we can help each other to piece together our relatives. My Grandfather's brother William Rutter married Mary Senacoca although I cannot find a marriage record. Mary was Catherine and Michael's daughter, born 24 Nov 1894 in Durham City, Co. Durham. She died 9 Aug 1978 in Wincomblee Home, Airey Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England. Widow of William Rutter, retired Security Guard. Cause of Death:- Congestive heart failure and Dementia. Informant Kathleen Norah Marshall, Daughter of 116 Scrogg Road, Newcastle.

I have been unable to trace William's death, nor his marriage to Mary, nor their whereabouts on 1911 census. Their daughter Kathleen was born in 1921.

On the 1911 census Catherine, by now a widow, was living at 32 Framwellgate, Durham City, Co. Durham, England with 4 of her surviving 6 children, but I cannot trace Mary. Mar's fatyher Michael of 129 Millburngate, Durham confectioner died 4 February 1903. Probate Durham 26 May to Cathrine Senacoca widow and Frederick George Mann grocer Effects £404 17s. 5d.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am always amazed by everyon'e quick responses.
Any way, I have since found a private tree on Ancestry and I have written to the owner as it looks as though she may have some additional information relating to siblings of Mary. Fingers crossed, I will post any outcome.
I do have a copy of Kathleen's birth certificate where her mother's maiden name is Senna but this has not thrown up any more leads I am afraid. Her death certificiate does say SENA COCA though and Kathleen was the informant. I was also aware of the 1901census records. It is just after that the trail goes cold, although I do have a photo of Kathleen (possibly aged about 12) and who I believe to be her mum Mary with my great grandparents in Sunderland. This ancestry lark can be very frustrating.
