As far as I am concerned the name ´Saker´ originates from Lituania. My grandad´s mother was definitely from Lituania and at some point moved to Great Britain. My grandfather, Joe Saker (born Joe Sakalouski)was born in Scotland and made his way down South looking for work. He eventually ended up in Peterborough, Cambs. My father, Robert Saker was born Sakalouski in 1948. It appears that although my father was Saker when he started school, my grandad never changed the name properly to Saker until 1975. Anyone have any other information on the name Saker and its origins? Any of your information match this? Apparently the name Sakalouski was changed to Saker by my family due to problems with foreign names existing in Great Britain not so long after World War 2. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Louise Saker.
