sent this out a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if you received it but you may be interested. I've only had a response from about 10-12 up until now but I will try the radio stationa as well!


My great grandmother was Anne Pope from Aughton and Fazackerly. I have been helped by other members of the Pope family I have met on line to trace her back to John Pope of Aughton born about 1722.
This has opened up other members of this extensive family and it would be great to further develop the family tree. Especially if we could get back further than John-maybe one of the descendants knows how to do this!
It appears that you are descended from this line of Lancashire Popes and although Anne was only my Great Grandmother, my mother was very proud of her links to this Lancashire family.
I have met with other members of the family and we would like to have some sort of family reunion.
We have set a date and a venue,

Monday 6th October, 8p.m. in the Horse and Jockey in Melling! (the Proprietor is a Pope descendant!).
If you are interested in attending please let me know and if you would like to be part of the planning group again please contact me!
Maybe we will make the Guinness Book of records.
I hope that we will meet on the 6th, or possibly before, if you are full of ideas about the form of this reunion!
I will be away for the next month but I wanted to give advance notice of this event and will contact you on my return
