Henry Pooley & Son were trading as mechanical engineers in Liverpool in 1744. They began to manufacture scales in 1835, at The Albion Foundry. These could be seen on many railway stations and a few examples still exist. The company moved to Birmingham (John Bright Street)in 1890 and became part of Avery in 1913.
