My G. Grandfather x 4 was a Master Orris Weaver. I am aware of what this is but wondered if anyone new if an apprenticeship would have to be served to be a "master"

Have googled this a few times but can't seem to find out this type of information.

Yes, he would have had to serve an apprenticeship. See her:

Have googled Guild of Orris Weavers and nothing. What I woud like to do now is try and find out is if there is a list of something of apprentices.

Paula..Chambers Dictionary gives ORRIS as:

"a peculiar kind of gold or silver lace...upholsterer's galloon or gimp..."

So i guess you're looking for a pretty classy Upholsterer!!
