Member Since: February 2003 Posts: 7 Send Message	Trying to find anyone related to me, or who knows anyone in my family. My father is James Barrie Painting. He has one sister called Catherine. My grandfather was called Raymond James Newell Painting. He spent 33 yrs of his life in the RAF. His nickname was 'Chiefy'). He died in 2000. My great grandfather was William James Newell Painting, who was born out of wedlock to Ruth Painting and James Newell. She later married William's father. They lived in the Oxford area encompassing Chipping Norton and Great Tew. If anyone can help then please get in contact. I have already found some information out and located some distant family members but I'd like to know more. And if anyone knew my Grandfather it would be great to hear from you. Some more information for you:- Ruth was the grand-daughter of James Painting & Elizabeth Curtis (both of whom were born c.1811). They resided in Great Tew. James & Elizabeth seem to have had several children:- Ellen/Elen, John, Mary, CM Painting, Edwin, John, Rhoda & Sarah Ann. I am assuming that I am related through one of their sons (father of Ruth), but at the moment I am not sure which. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
