Hi. Just wondered if the following info could be of any help to someone out there. A couple of weeks ago a lady kindly emailed me a page from the 1881 census listing some of my mother's side of the family, living in tents in Smiths Orchard, Kingwood Common Oxon. As well as my 2 x g grandparents (John Bland, mistress Eliza Waite and 6 of their 8 children) there is an Elizabeth Newport aged 34, occupation hawker born Eastlich, Gloucester, mistress of William Loveridge aged 40 born Oxford, also a hawker and their children Will Archer 14 born Runville, Berks, Mathew 8 born Reading, Eadeth Newport 5 born Northlich, Gloucester and Sarah 2 born Abingdon, Berks.

The Civil Parish is listed as Rotherfield Peppard.

As far as I know they are not connected to my family, other than they were camped in the same orchard on census night, though they may have been friends and travelled together.

Can anyone claim Elizabeth and her family?

Regards

Janette
