I am seeking any information on my great grandfather William Greaves. On the 1881 census he is shown as being born in Newick, Sussex. On the 1891 census he is shown as being born in Sussex. I have found that he married Frances Anne Dobson in South Shields in 1875. The family lived in that area until his death in 1916. He was shown as a sailor on the census returns. My grandmother Elizabeth Caroline married in 1901 and emigrated to Australia in 1927. In the 1901 census he is shown as being born in Sussex, Brighton. |
