My mother, Margaret Jean Fraser, was fostered by Minnie & James Storey but never adopted. (They did later adopt a boy, after first fostering him.) She wasn't told 'til she was 17 that she was fostered & was then told the little she 'knows' of her mother. She was never told, but assumes that she was about 6 weeks old & fostered from the Hospital, in fact after the original telling the Storey's didn't want to discuss her parentage. My mother is now in her 70s & has always wanted to know where she came from & who she belongs to? We only have her birth cert that was registered by the Matron of the Hospital to go on, the details given are: March 1932 @ Sheffield St Hospital, Margaret Jean Fraser, Father = -, Mother = Maureen Fraser, of Westminster Bridge Rd SE, Informant = G. Nash, matron All she 'knows' of her mother, Maureen is this: That her mother never meant to leave her with them permanently, she was supposed to come back for her. Maureen apparently made payments for Mum's keep for about 18 months. Maureen supposedly died of TB about 18 months after Mum was put in the Storey's care. Maureen was supposedly a Scot of Fraser's Green, Scotland. I have paid 4 genealogists who have so far come up with NO Maureen Fraser that was old enough to have a baby in 1932 or that died within 18 months. The genealogists really only looked in Scotland, but I've found nothing in England either, my mother was born, grew up & married in London. I have written many letters & emails but so far no-one has been able to help - can you?
