My great granfather Robert Edson was born in 1823. His place of birth is recorded as Shirebrook Derbyshire. In 1823 the present day Shrebrook did not exist. What settlement there was at that time came under Pleasley Derbyshire. The present day Shirebrook didnt develope until after the sinking of the colliery towards the end of the 19th century. Before boundary changes there was a 'Shirebrook' near Mosborough when both were in Derbyshire. Any information relating to my great grandfathers origins will be appreciated .He died in 1898 and is buried in the cemetary at Eckington Derbyshire. |
