Dobner is my mother's maiden name. It is a very unusual name. There are only just over 100 Dobners in the 1911 Census. Most seem to have been living around the Windsor, Eton, Woking, Slough, Ash Vale and Egham areas. I would be interested to hear from other Dobners whose families have come from these areas. My own modest researches suggest that the name can be traced back to Austria and might be Jewish. The earliest English reference I've found so far is to an Elizabeth Dobner marrying in Middlesex in 1810.
