I am the illegitimite daughter of Bert Davenport. My dad meet my mum when he was working for the Hydro Electric Commission in Tasmania around 1955/56. My dad had to return to England after I was born and I have not had any contact. The only discription I have of him is that he was tall, dark hair (I think), wore a long army coat and hat and walked a walking stick, he had a bad leg. My mum, an Aboriginal woman (Ella Jane Haines (nee,West) lost her children. My dad tried to get custody of myself; he's only child at that time, this attempt failed because my mum didn't want any of her children leaving Australia. She wanted us reunited with her. I never saw my mum again, she died some years later heart broken I was told at age 45. I tried contacing the Hydro Commission only to be told that there were 5 Bert Davenport's working there around 1950 - 56 and all came from England. Does any of this ring a bell? If even the slightest can you please let me know. Thanks.
