I wonder if anyone can help me I am looking for relations with above surnames from Edinburgh area.
The information below I have is pieced together from conversations with an elderly 2nd cousin Katie (Catherine Younger) who is now 90yrs of age and from old letters and diary entries I have found.
My gt grandmother Catherine McDonald (later married Donald Holmes) b 1859 Dumbarton had a sister Annie b 1857 Rutherglen, Glasgow they also had a brother William and sister Isabella.
I am told that Annie married someone called ? Cassie, .
3 possible children known Isobel (unmarried), John and Margaret (Meggie) John possibly married a Moyra ? he apparently had a stroke in 1958 and Meggie married a ? Henretty she used to clean for a local church she attended in Edinburgh and apparently died trapped in an upstairs room in a fire in mid 1970s (during the period of the junior doctors strike ?1976) a grandchild I believe was rescued by a a man passing by.
There is also mention of I think another cousin John (Johnnie) who had a stroke in 1958 (don't think its same one as above though)
The last addresses I have are
Meggie Henretty -3 Davie Street, Edinburgh and later 40 Moredun Park Walk, Gilmerton, Edinburgh (possibly last address)
Annie Cassie and Isobel Cassie - 11 Largo place Edinburgh then later 95 Restal Rig Road South, Edinburgh EH7 6JD
Last letter from latter address I have was from Isobel (I think - Cassie) written in Nov 1976 to my 2nd cousins Jenny and Kate in Newcastle upon Tyne, she thanks them for coming to her mums funeral but it then gets confusing as I am not sure if she means Annie but it must have been written many years after event as Annie would have been 119yrs old in 1976, she also mentions other relations Margaret/Douglas (44 Wardie road) but I cannot determine who they are.
I have tried searches on census around 1891/1901 for the name Cassie but without luck so hope someone might recognise these names and be able to help me
